Droid Bionic custom boot animations

Postby jellyhead » 27 Jan 2012, 10:18

To change the boot animation/audio you will need a rooted device. Information on rooting your Droid Bionic can be found in the topic

ftopic32122_droid-bionic-one-click-rooting.html

I created this boot animation by modifying an existing simulated BIOS animation and adding the Windows 7 boot animation. You can change the boot animation easily with any root explorer capable file manager, I use ES File Explorer. To change the boot animation, just replace the file located in /data/local. There is also an identical animation located in /system/media. The /data/local animation with be played instead unless there is a problem with it. I disabled the audio in the desc.txt file but you can turn it back on by adding this line

s Bionic.ogg

This is for a Droid Bionic but the size and speed can be changed by editing the desc.txt file inside of the zip. just open the text file and edit the top row:

540 960 15

First 2 numbers are the resolution and the last is the speed. The speed is usually in increments of 10. The last part of the animation loops so if your phone boots slower it doesn't matter. When done editing you need to zip using "store" as the compression method or it won't work.

Here's a preview and download link if anyone's interested (actual animation is better quality than the preview here).

I also modified the original boot animation and changed the color to Blue and a Pink one for the wife. Included with the animations is the matching wallpapers and the boot audio file.
